Questions, answered
ChatGPT advertising, explained
Can you advertise on ChatGPT in Belgium?+
Yes. OpenAI started showing ads in ChatGPT in the United States in early 2026 and extended them to Belgium and a large part of Europe at the end of August 2026. Advertisers buy through OpenAI's Ads Manager, which is still in beta, or through OpenAI's sales team and partners. The advertiser has to be based in an eligible country and the category has to pass OpenAI's ad policies, so check eligibility before planning a campaign around it.
Can I pay to be mentioned in ChatGPT's answer?+
No. According to OpenAI, ads do not influence the answers ChatGPT gives. A paid ad appears as a separate, labelled unit under the answer. Being named inside the answer itself is earned: the model has to be able to read your pages, understand who you are from consistent facts, and find a passage worth quoting. That is Generative Engine Optimization, and it is the half of the work that keeps paying off without a media budget.
How do I get my company mentioned by ChatGPT?+
Three things have to be true. ChatGPT has to be able to fetch your pages, which means not blocking OAI-SearchBot, GPTBot or ChatGPT-User in robots.txt or at your firewall. It has to understand who you are, which is what structured data and consistent company details across the web are for. And it has to find a short, self-contained answer to the buyer's question on your site, under a heading that asks that question. Most companies fail on the first or the third.
Who sees ChatGPT ads?+
Adult users on the Free plan and on the low-cost Go subscription. Users on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu do not see ads. OpenAI also keeps ads away from sensitive topics such as health, mental health and politics, and does not show them to users under 18. In Belgium, ads are matched to the conversation, language and approximate location rather than to a personal profile, because personalised ads are not available there for now.
What do ChatGPT ads cost?+
You can bid per thousand impressions, per click, or with conversion-optimised CPC, where the system bids toward a conversion you track with the ChatGPT pixel or the Conversions API. Prices are set in the auction and are still moving as more advertisers join, so we do not quote a fixed price per click. We start campaigns on a budget sized to learn which questions bring buyers, then scale what works.
Is it worth advertising in ChatGPT if we are not mentioned organically?+
It can be, but it is the expensive way round. An ad under an answer that recommends two competitors has to argue against the answer above it. That is why we always start with a baseline of what ChatGPT says about your category today, and fix crawler access and company facts in parallel with the first campaigns. The ad gives you reach now; the mention makes that reach convert.
How do you measure results in ChatGPT?+
On the paid side, with the ChatGPT pixel or the Conversions API next to your existing tracking, so each lead is tied to the campaign that brought it. OpenAI shares only aggregated data such as impressions and clicks, so the conversion tracking on your side matters. On the organic side, by re-running a fixed set of buyer prompts in ChatGPT every month and recording how often you are named and which competitors appear beside you. On top of that, our own platform has an integration that tracks how many visitors reach your website from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and other AI assistants, so you can see that traffic in the Stigo platform from day one.
Do you also run ads on Google, Meta and LinkedIn?+
Yes, and for most companies ChatGPT is an addition to those channels, not a replacement. Google still carries most of the search volume with buying intent, and Meta and LinkedIn reach people before they start searching. We plan ChatGPT into the same budget and the same reporting, so you can see what each channel actually adds.
